Who are we?
| Hettie |
 |
Hettie (1957) started her work at Monte Rosa in April. The idea is that Hettie and Conny together will replace Sandra for a while. In Holland Hettie had a printing business. When she was ready for a change she got skilled to become a carpenter. After finishing this training, she left for Portugal, where she worked at various centres as volunteer or staff member. She is a friendly hostess, but also able to do all kind of construction work and technical jobs. She loves gardening, this is very noticable during your stay... She is a woman with all round skills, very enthousiastic and is an important member of the Monte Rosa team. |
|
Conny (1951) had her own word processing company in Holland and gave computer training. She has lived in Portugal for several years and now speaks the language. She gained a lot of experience by working in a tourist centre. She has an important job role at Monte Rosa with administration work, PR, reservations and the general guest well being. She loves hiking and maintains all of Monte Rosa's hiking routes up to date. Conny has been friends with Hettie for several years. Even though they have different skills they work very well alongside each other, to make your stay at Monte Rosa complete.

Coos (1954), origanally Dutch is an energetic man, not afraid of the adventure.
Already in his early days he lived and worked abroad, e.g. 5 years in Iceland.
Untill 2008 Coos worked in education. Even though he loves to work with children, the work at school did not give him the fullfillment he needs.
At school already his hobby was to teach cooking to the children.
Coos resigned and came to Portugal in March 2008 to take responsibility of the Monte Rosa kitchen. He is a fantastic cook. Also his hospitality and his ability of real care taking are qualities that Monte Rosa is very happy with.
For transport to the starting /pick up place of the hikes or for transport to or from the airport you can also ask Coos. |
| Noémia |
NOÉMIA (1959) is Portuguese,
born in Angola. Noemia takes care that Monte Rosa is clean and organized.
She takes care of the laundry and helps with the cooking. No one can
peel potatoes as fast as Noemia does!
Sometimes she prepares typical Portuguese dishes or desserts, at which
she is expert. Noemia prefers cooking to cleaning but prefers not
to work in the evenings. She lives in Lagos with 3 of her children and her partner. A lovely person with
a warm heart, Noemia is a real treasure for Monte Rosa! | |

OLIMPIA (1958) and ALESSANDRO (1970),
both Italians, ran succesfully The Monte Rosa restaurant in 2006. At the end of the season they decided to go and exlpore the Chicken restaurant of Dona Isabel in Barão de S. João. They put a lot of effort in renovation and changed it into a very cosy place with large terrace in the back. The tipical menu of "Frango Piri Piri" (spicy chicken) is still available, but the menu is enriched with nice Italian and International dishes. Also there will always be a nice vegetarian menu.
|
| There is the offer that those guests who come from Monte Rosa, who don't have proper transport, will be brought back (1,7km) after dinner without any costs. In winter time, when at Monte Rosa no dinners are served, the Beiral is of course also a very nice dinner option to go for. Monte Rosa kept a real nice friendship with this lovely couple. |

| Sandra |
 |
The founder of Monte Rosa is SANDRA (1954). Het intention is that the centre gives people the opportunity to rest and recuperate on holiday. This could be combined with an opportunity for personal development. After many years of taking care for the wellbeing of the guests and carrying full reponsibility for the management of Monte Rosa, she has now decided it is time for her to have a retreat of her own. During this time away she will take the opportunity for education and inspirarion, intending to study more in psychology and hypnotherapy. Most of this year Sandra will spend abroad. She is happy to have found such lovely and competent people in the present team to substitute her for a while. Sandra enjoys giving you practical information on the "alternative" side of the Algarve and about the beautiful hikes you can make in the area. Besides her Monte Rosa job Sandra is lately also involved in an eco project in Brasil.( for info: www.piracanga.com)
