Monte Rosa, a Rural Guesthouse

Monte Rosa is ideally located in the heart of the unspoilt Portuguese countryside, away from mass tourism.
It consists of various renovated rustic buildings, in which cosy and comfortable accommodation is offered. The complex is situated amidst 4 acres of rural countryside - with an abundance of old almond, olive and fig trees.
The accommodation varies in size and facilities. All rooms and apartments have their own bathroom with shower or bath. Some have their own kitchenette, others share the outside kitchen facilities.
All rooms have a pleasant seating area out of doors. There are rooms for 1, 2 or 3 occupants and there are several fully equipped apartments, with terrace, for 4 to 8 people.
In the winter we offer heating facilities, either wood- burning or electrical.

There is also a limited possibility for camping - you can choose your own idyllic spot on the land. You may bring your own tent or caravan, or rent one of our tents.
Due to fire hazard we cannot allow camping guests to make a fire or use camping gas during the months June through October. During this period camping guests may use the outside kitchen facilities. For families it is possible to combine renting a room for the adults and a tent for the children. Rooms numbered 4, 5 and 8 are most suitable for this (see the button "apartments").

In the activity centre we organize (or let others organize) workshops, courses, meetings and other activities in the fields of personal development and creativity. This beautifully built, round house has a panoramic view over the Portuguese country side with its almond and fig trees and vineyards. The complex is set within colourful gardens with pathways, terraces and inviting seating areas. There is a barbeque in the garden for general use.

All guests are welcome in the attractive common room, where you will find games, a comprehensive library, specializing in books on personal development. There is a wood - burning stove and a self - service bar.
This area, with its large terrace, is also used as a restaurant and is where we serve daily breakfast.
From April through September we offer a communal dinner 4 times a week, for which we ask you to register in the morning.
Weather permitting, we eat outside on the terrace.

There is a salt-water swimming pool, (5 by 10 m.), with relaxing wooden sun beds and a beautiful panoramic view of the natural surroundings.

Monte Rosa is also an ideal spot for children.
The surroundings invite the investigation of nature, the building of huts, etc. and there is a playground with swings, a slide and a sand box. There are cats to caress and chickens that give us fresh eggs every day.
